Reading data on your device

Saved papers, notes, interests, reading history, translations, insights, talk drafts, public paper metadata and save times are stored on your device by default. Browsing and local reading do not require an account. This release does not provide developer-operated accounts or account sync.

Online paper sources

Online search and PDFs connect to arXiv with search terms or paper identifiers. Opening a source connects to its website. Receiving hosts can see connection information such as IP addresses. iOS also reads public Hugging Face trending lists directly; these public paper sources do not depend on a developer-operated account service.

Manually saved links

Manually adding a link stores its complete HTTPS URL, title and save time. Saving, editing and browsing the list do not contact the website. Link records are excluded from paper-library account sync. Opening a source hands it to the system browser. Query parameters or fragments in a URL may contain personal information.

Manually fetching webpage and image previews

The app requests a webpage or static image only after you initiate a preview and confirm the destination. Redirects or images on another site require confirmation again. The destination receives the path, query parameters, IP address and necessary connection information, but not URL fragments. Requests do not attach PaperMori login details, cookies, notes or other library content. Previews do not execute scripts or save full webpages. You can decline or cancel.

Caches and separate backups

Paper thumbnails are generated locally from already downloaded PDFs without an extra download. Clearing thumbnails keeps the full PDFs. Link backups and paper-library backups are separate and go to a location you choose. Link backups contain complete URLs but not accounts, sessions or image caches. Restore preserves a previous local copy. Deleting content does not delete exported files or old backups. Link records may enter system backups depending on device settings; preview image caches do not. Manually fetched titles, summaries, final URLs and images may be cached locally. Clearing image caches keeps saved links and summaries.

Permissions and system features

Reading reminders use local system notifications after you enable and authorize them; turn them off in system settings. Speech synthesis reads text aloud without recording your voice. The reviewed implementation has no advertising or analytics SDKs and does not request tracking, location, contacts or microphone access.

Translation, read-aloud and short talks

System translation may require model downloads and translates English abstracts into Chinese. Read-aloud uses device voices without recording your voice, and short-talk export is generated locally. Related topics are matched on the device. Separate figure extraction and online citation lookups are disabled; view original figures in the paper PDF.

Service availability in this release

This release has no configured account service, sync, discussions or cloud AI. These features are unavailable and reading data stays local. Online paper sources and websites that you choose to open or request still receive the corresponding network requests.

On-device insights

Supported iPhones can use on-device Apple Intelligence, subject to device and system availability. This release has no cloud AI and does not send questions to a model provider.

Policy updates

We update this policy when features or data handling change. New uses of data will be explained before you use the relevant feature.
